Hill Fort Investment Managers India Private Limited is an independently owned Investment Manager that is focused exclusively on publicly traded equities across India. We manage Hill Fort Indian Equities which is an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF-Cat III) exclusively for India domiciled investors. We believe in the power of being fully invested in a concentrated portfolio of high return businesses., We intend to be a ‘one strategy’ firm. We complement our long-term investment focus with a fee structure that seeks like-minded, long-term oriented clients.

what we do
We specialise in identifying high growth Indian companies, which we believe can grow substantially while continuing to generate high ROCE’s. These businesses tend to have low fixed asset requirements and enjoy excellent working capital terms. We aim to fully exploit this opportunity by not actively trading our portfolio; resulting in much lower “hidden costs” of investing versus comparable equity funds.

What we believe
Hill Fort Indian Equities is an Alternative Investment Fund (AIF-Cat III) that follows in the footsteps of a successful offshore fund that enjoys support from some of the most sophisticated foreign investors globally. We believe that there are a few reasons why investors are willing to trust their savings to selected fund managers. The investment strategy likely resonates with them, but we think the primary reason has to do with their comfort in the values of the organisation.

fairness
We will not discriminate against smaller investors and charge them higher rates than the largest investors.
Asset size is the enemy of performance
As one of the largest investors in the Fund, we will cap the AUM to ensure that we prioritise return generation over asset gathering.
Radical Honesty
Diversity in backgrounds will lead to better decisions when everyone in the firm is encouraged to speak freely.
Alignment of interests
We will only invest in the same stocks as our clients, no conflicts.
Philosophy
Buy Great Businesses
We seek to invest in high return businesses where we see the opportunity to scale 5 to 10 times in the next several years while maintaining these high returns on invested capital. Their competitive advantages come from several sources but we prioritise those firms with superior cultures and proper alignment with minority investors.
Pay Fair Prices
We are not interested in buying average or poor businesses at low valuations. We believe great companies can be purchased at reasonable multiples of cash flow. Sometimes we get lucky and can buy great businesses at low prices, but this is the exception.
Stay Focused
We have a single-minded focus on one approach, and we believe that risk can be reduced by focusing on a small number of investments. Simplicity, focus and attention to detail have served us well.
